Hurtland CX
For our second Adventure Series, we wanted to visit somewhere close to home. We chose Tulsa, OK and we chose the weekend of Hurtland CX to explore. Here’s the scoop on why you need to take a quick getaway here.
Part I
Where to stay: Lola’s Hotel California on Airbnb. Lola is a local legend for her baking and cooking and her Airbnb sits on Reservoir Hill. Positioned with a breathtaking night view of Downtown Tulsa, her historic home is within riding distance of all the good restaurants and venues downtown. Plus it’s less than five minutes from the famous Tulsa Tough Criterium courses.
Where to grab coffee and breakfast: Chimera is our go-to, almost always.
Where to ride: Riverpark Trails, go for a 55-60 mile road ride or head up to the infamous Turkey Mtn mtb trails.
What to do: The Philbrook and Gilcrease Museums are an Oklahoma treasure.
Where to grab a beer: The Soundpony Bar, a legend amongst cyclists.
Part II
The Race: Promoted by Tulsa Tough, Hurtland CX bike race did not disappoint. Set in a local park with a view of downtown Tulsa, we had a blast hollering for old friends in the La Culebra. Plus our teammate, Aaron Wright, made his first, and he says last, CX appearance. We think he looked stellar in his skinsuit though. Regrettably, we somehow didn’t capture his photo.
