About Us

Founded by Chad & Sarah Shanks, Neighborhood Bicycle Shop provides high-quality bicycles and service to the Oklahoma City Metro community.

Born from a love of the sport, we’re devoted to personal service, world-class products, and having a good time on the bike. When we began in 2015, our goal was to change the cycling landscape by offering comprehensive services, high-quality products, and organizing unique training rides and events.

Chad and Sarah acquired the shop in December of 2015. With a passion to provide and work with quality products, Cannondale was brought in as the main brand and slowly, methodically the shop has evolved into the high caliber shop it is today.

The idea for Neighborhood came from Ryan Hulseberg, co-creative behind most of our launches, and was inspired by Chad’s obsession with Mr. Rogers “Won’t you be my Neighbor?”

Neighborhood is defined spatially as a specific geographic area and functionally as a set of social networks. Neighborhoods are the spatial units in which face-to-face social interactions occur. They are the personal settings where residents seek to realize common values and socialize youth.

Nothing really feels like a better embodiment of why we do what we do.

Andrew Koszarek, Mechanic

We joke Andrew, our service tech, comes with the shop as he has been wrenching here since 1996. He has gathered quite the following in Norman and we’re glad he’s part of our team.
